Your responsibilities include supporting the statistical and computational needs of the NCCS-VARI Translational Cancer Research Laboratory, which may include leading a statistical work unit, applying statistical methods to laboratory projects, and developing methods and software as well as maintaining laboratory information technology system (include server, compute cluster and video conferencing system.) You will be working closely with scientists on formulating testable hypotheses, performing related analyses, and reporting results.
Taking the open concept a step further is the Bioinformatics Organization, an open source practitioner that uses wiki software to let researchers post their models, questions, experiments and discoveries.
Bioinformatics President Jeff Bizarro says in LinuxInsider that the organization was created to allow researchers in the same discipline to share information with their peers. It's a central location for open source projects, now 27,000 members strong. They use the wiki site to post projects involving, for example, DNA and RNA sequence analysis, protein analysis and drug discovery.
While the university started with offering BTech programmes in computer science and engineering, ICT and biotechnology, its MTech programmes include computer science and engineering, ICT, bioinformatics and educational technology. Its PhD programmes include computer science and engineering, ICT, educational technology and bioinformatics and biotechnology. The university has plans for management programmes as well.

The book is unique in that it bridges the gap between bioinformaticists and molecular biologists, i.e. the developers and the users of computational methods for biological data analysis and in that it presents examples of practical applications of the bioinformatics tools in the "daily practice" of an experimental research scientist.
Essential Bioinformatics is a concise yet comprehensive textbook of bioinformatics, which provides a broad introduction to the entire field. Written specifically for a life science audience, the basics of bioinformatics are explained, followed by discussions of the state-of-the-art computational tools available to solve biological research problems.
